Why is water so important?
|
ALL of us have heard a hundred thousand times in our life that we need to drink 8 glasses of water a day. Yeah I get it. Water is important to drink, and we need to drink enough so that we are running to the bathroom with stretched bladder every 30 minutes! Seriously, 8 glasses a water every day is a stretch for me. i have to go to the bathroom so frequently when I drink that much that I couldn't leave the house to go shopping to save my soul! Pennington's doesn't advertise a public washroom! |
So first things first…. I want to know what makes water so vital, and second I want to know if there is any other way I can get the same benefits without the hassles!
I would much rather get my exercise from a good brisk walk than running to the ladies room 20 times in a day….So first of all… why do we need so much water?
Well, as a starter, water makes up about 3/4 of our body weight. Every one of our cells needs adequate hydration, in the form of water of course, to do it's job properly. when you think of all of the obvious ways that you are aware of water in your body…. saliva, sweat, skin, blood, etc it becomes evident that water is a vital part of our make up.
But specifically, what is the role of water in our weight loss or gain?
This is the most important part of the question for me.
- Water helps transport nutrients to cells.
- Water helps remove toxins.
- Water cools us off.
- Water helps speed our metabolism, therefore we have more energy.
- Water aids digestion.
- Water keeps us from becoming constipated.
- Water accumulates where there are toxins, in an attemp to protect vital organs and cells.
These are the most important functions of water when it comes to weight loss. So from that list, it makes sense to me that we need to be adequately hydrated. I have several concerns about the water we drink though.
City tap water likely has chlorine and flouride added. It also could contain a lot of things we are not even aware of like prescription drugs!! I am not kidding about that. Do a google search for prescription drugs in city water to get the stories. Well water isn't any better. Our earth is totally polluted with chemicals, toxins and heavy metals. What the heck is the solution?
I have recently been introduced to Water Ionizers.
2. HO One atom of Hydrogen and one of oxygen. This is the acid water we use externally and for germicidal cleaning.(CLICK HERE)for more details of the amazing properties of acid water)
We drink the alkaline ionized water and we apply the acid water. How simple and how wonderful!
And in our own case, how healing!
So What's all this about "pH" ?
Fact: This need not be. Help is at hand.
The pH scale ranges from 0 on the acidic side to 14 on the alkaline, and a solution is neutral if its pH is 7.
pH 6 means you are ten times more acid than pH 7.
pH 5 means you are a hundred times more acid than pH 7
Most interior living matter (excluding the cell nucleus) has a pH of about 6.8. Blood plasma and other fluids that surround the cells in the body have a pH of 7.2 to 7.45.
A blood pH of 6.9 can induce coma and death. That is why all bodily systems are secondary in importance to the system of pH balancing. Your body will willingly shut down digestion, alter temperature, rob your bones of calcium, deprive your pancreas, just to maintain adequate fluid buffers of alkalinity to balance the 'acid tide' we inflict upon ourselves through diet and stress.
However your body possesses numerous special mechanisms to aid in stabilizing these fluids so that cells will not be subject to appreciable fluctuations in pH.
Substances which serve as mechanisms to stabilize pH are called BUFFERS.
Buffers have the capacity to bond ions and remove them from solution whenever their concentration begins to rise. Conversely, buffers can release ions whenever their concentration begins to fall, thus helping to minimize the fluctuations in pH. This is an important function because many biochemical reactions normally occurring in living organisms either release or use up ions.
Imagine now what a load is taken off your body if its primary safety system of pH balancing can be 'stood down' from a continual 'full alert' because you now have a plentiful supply of alkaline water
Dr. Theodore A. Baroody, Alkalize or Die
“The countless names of ill-nesses do not really matter. What does matter is that they all come from the same root cause … too much tissue acid waste in the body!”
Dr. Robert O. Young, The pH Miracle
“We can heal ourselves by changing the environment inside our bodies. Potentially harmful invaders, then, will have nowhere to grow and will become harmless.”
Storing Acid in our Bodies :
To prove this theory, Dr. Frassetto studied 1000 people and discovered that we are indeed stockpiling acid waste in our fatty deposits instead of eliminating it with our kidneys and liver. Cholesterol and crystallized uric acid are solidified acids that have been dumped within the body for later disposal, which never comes. Our bodies have made the choice to preserve our kidney and liver instead of processing the acid waste.
The cost is tremendous — obesity, low energy, and many acid related diseases such as osteoarthritis, diabetes, cancer, and much more.
Acid and Stress :
The worst case scenario in which many Westerners fit into is where we work 40-50 hour stressful weeks with hardly any breaks to calm ourselves down. We consume fast food and coffee for quick bursts of artificial energy to just get through our work day. Then we come home to family stresses, household chores, bills, and more and never really relax and give our bodies a chance to neutralize all the acid we produced through stress and from eating very acidic foods.
So acid in our bodies build up until we begin to show symptoms — digestive problems, headaches, overweight, bone pains, elimination issues, muscle tension and pain, heart problems, high blood pressure, and more.
We spend our lives giving ourselves to our jobs and families and never take the time to nourish our bodies, mind, and soul.
More Effects – Acid in our Body :
Acid coagulates blood. Blood also can’t flow around fatty acids so capillaries clog up and die. Our skin begins to wrinkle and isn’t as stretchy. Even if you put out the money for a face lift or liposuction, the acid still remains and will do damage. As for our lungs and other organs, all are involved in the maintenance of correct blood pH so if all have to work harder to deal with excessive acid, all will stop functioning a whole lot sooner than we want them to.

I found some validation to my prior readings that acidity does promote fat creation in the body. Thank you. I found what I was looking for.
