Water

 Why is water so important?

ALL of us have heard a hundred thousand times in our life that we need to drink 8 glasses of water a day. Yeah I get it. Water is important to drink, and we need to drink enough so that we are running to the bathroom with stretched bladder every 30 minutes!

Seriously, 8 glasses a water every day is a stretch for me. i have to go to the bathroom so frequently when I drink that much that I couldn't leave the house to go shopping to save my soul! Pennington's doesn't advertise a public washroom!

Water for weight lossSo first things first…. I want to know what makes water so vital, and second I want to know if there is any other way I can get the same benefits without the hassles!

I would much rather get my exercise from a good brisk walk than running to the ladies room 20 times in a day….So first of all… why do we need so much water?

Well, as a starter, water makes up about 3/4 of our body weight. Every one of our cells needs adequate hydration, in the form of water of course, to do it's job properly. when you think of all of the obvious ways that you are aware of water in your body…. saliva, sweat, skin, blood, etc it becomes evident that water is a vital part of our make up.

But specifically, what is the role of water in our weight loss or gain?

This is the most important part of the question for me.

  1. Water helps transport nutrients to cells.
  2. Water helps remove toxins.
  3. Water cools us off.
  4. Water helps speed our metabolism, therefore we have more energy.
  5. Water aids digestion.
  6. Water keeps us from becoming constipated.
  7. Water accumulates where there are toxins, in an attemp to protect vital organs and cells.

These are the most important functions of water when it comes to weight loss. So from that list, it makes sense to me that we need to be adequately hydrated. I have several concerns about the water we drink though.

City tap water likely has chlorine and flouride added. It also could contain a lot of things we are not even aware of like prescription drugs!! I am not kidding about that. Do a google search for prescription drugs in city water to get the stories. Well water isn't any better. Our earth is totally polluted with chemicals, toxins and heavy metals. What the heck is the solution?

I have recently been introduced to Water Ionizers.

Ever Seen a Glacial Stream or an Iceberg?KYK Water Ionizer
It's blue with minerals. It tastes totally different. It seems to enter the body lightly. It presents no resistance. You don't 'bloat' like you may do with tap water or even filtered water. And the minerals are there not just to offer you those elements your system lacks, but also to 'hold' the real secret of glacial water; its antioxidant power. Strong, pure hydroxyl ions, negatively charged hydrogen atoms that actively seeks out positively charged oxygen free radicals already wrecking havoc on our bodies at a cellular level.
This is naturally occurring ionized water, and just for once, technology has delivered a 'clean' answer to us in the form of the KYK Harmony Water Ionizer, which emulates the same conversion of glacial H20 into pure alkaline, ionized, oxygenated drinking water, by 'splitting' H20 (Two Hydrogen atoms, one oxygen atom) into two separate streams of water;

1. OH-  One atom  of  Oxygen and one atom of hydrogen negatively charged – the Hydroxyl ion. This is the prized Alkaline water that we drink and love.

2. HO  One atom of Hydrogen and one of oxygen. This is the acid water we use externally and for germicidal cleaning.(CLICK HERE)for more details of the amazing properties of acid water)

This 'splitting' of the H20 Molecule happens in a sealed ionization chamber within your filter for ionized water, under exact control of a dedicated microcomputer, to ensure the exact result time after time. As filtered tap water passes across 5 specially designed Titanium electrodes, it separates into the two components above..

We drink the alkaline ionized water and we apply the acid water. How simple and how wonderful!

And in our own case, how healing!

So What's all this about "pH" ?

Fact: Almost all of us are slowly dying of excess acid.

Fact: This need not be. Help is at hand.

The pH scale ranges from 0 on the acidic side to 14 on the alkaline, and a solution is neutral if its pH is 7.

At pH 7, water contains equal concentrations of H+ and OH- ions. Substances with a pH less than 7 are acidic because they contain a higher concentration of H+ ions. Higher concentration of OH- than H+. The pH scale is a logarithmic scale, so a change of one pH unit implies a tenfold shift in the concentration of hydrogen ions .

pH 6 means you are ten times more acid than pH 7.

pH 5 means you are a hundred times more acid than pH 7

Living things, including humans, are extremely sensitive to pH and function best (with certain exceptions, such as different portions of the digestive tract) when solutions are nearly neutral.

Most interior living matter (excluding the cell nucleus) has a pH of about 6.8. Blood plasma and other fluids that surround the cells in the body have a pH of 7.2 to 7.45.

A blood pH of 6.9 can induce coma and death. That is why all bodily systems are secondary in importance to the system of pH balancing. Your body will willingly shut down digestion, alter temperature, rob your bones of calcium, deprive your pancreas, just to maintain adequate fluid buffers of alkalinity to balance the 'acid tide' we inflict upon ourselves through diet and stress.

However your body possesses numerous special mechanisms to aid in stabilizing these fluids so that cells will not be subject to appreciable fluctuations in pH.

Substances which serve as mechanisms to stabilize pH are called BUFFERS.

Buffers have the capacity to bond ions and remove them from solution whenever their concentration begins to rise. Conversely, buffers can release ions whenever their concentration begins to fall, thus helping to minimize the fluctuations in pH. This is an important function because many biochemical reactions normally occurring in living organisms either release or use up ions.

Imagine now what a load is taken off your body if its primary safety system of pH balancing can be 'stood down' from a continual 'full alert' because you now have a plentiful supply of alkaline water

By Alderin Ordell, MA, based on the IonLife Report :

Dr. Theodore A. Baroody, Alkalize or Die

“The countless names of ill-nesses do not really matter. What does matter is that they all come from the same root cause … too much tissue acid waste in the body!”

Dr. Robert O. Young, The pH Miracle

“We can heal ourselves by changing the environment inside our bodies. Potentially harmful invaders, then, will have nowhere to grow and will become harmless.”

Storing Acid in our Bodies :

Dr. Lynda Frassetto from the University of California believes that humans, in evolutionary terms, have changed. Once upon a time, our bodies used to break down food and dispose of the acid waste with our kidneys and livers. But now, because of the sheer amount of acid waste the average American produces, she sees our inner bodies being turned into a war zone, where our body is fighting to protect its most strategic reserves — our kidney and liver — from total degradation and failure.

To prove this theory, Dr. Frassetto studied 1000 people and discovered that we are indeed stockpiling acid waste in our fatty deposits instead of eliminating it with our kidneys and liver. Cholesterol and crystallized uric acid are solidified acids that have been dumped within the body for later disposal, which never comes. Our bodies have made the choice to preserve our kidney and liver instead of processing the acid waste.

The cost is tremendous — obesity, low energy, and many acid related diseases such as osteoarthritis, diabetes, cancer, and much more.

Acid and Stress :

Acid comes from three sources — food, pollution, and stress. Of these three, stress is the greatest problem. One shot of adrenaline can neutralize and acidify an alkaline diet. So stress management as well as diet management is essential to maintaining an alkaline body.

The worst case scenario in which many Westerners fit into is where we work 40-50 hour stressful weeks with hardly any breaks to calm ourselves down. We consume fast food and coffee for quick bursts of artificial energy to just get through our work day. Then we come home to family stresses, household chores, bills, and more and never really relax and give our bodies a chance to neutralize all the acid we produced through stress and from eating very acidic foods.

So acid in our bodies build up until we begin to show symptoms — digestive problems, headaches, overweight, bone pains, elimination issues, muscle tension and pain, heart problems, high blood pressure, and more.

We spend our lives giving ourselves to our jobs and families and never take the time to nourish our bodies, mind, and soul.

More Effects – Acid in our Body :

Acidity is like rust. We have 96,000 kilometers of veins and arteries, all of which are corroded by acid. If nothing is done, acid interrupts all cellular activities and functions — from our beating heart to the way we think.

Acid coagulates blood. Blood also can’t flow around fatty acids so capillaries clog up and die. Our skin begins to wrinkle and isn’t as stretchy. Even if you put out the money for a face lift or liposuction, the acid still remains and will do damage. As for our lungs and other organs, all are involved in the maintenance of correct blood pH so if all have to work harder to deal with excessive acid, all will stop functioning a whole lot sooner than we want them to.

Your Energy Levels :

Our metabolic process is dependent on balance. Our 75 trillion cells are slightly acidic on the inside, while our outside inner sea should be alkaline. Without this acid/alkaline relationship, no chemical or energy interchange could happen because there isn’t any pH balance. There needs to be polarity between our cells and inner sea or the energy of the cell has difficulty flowing into the surrounding tissues. Thus, we don’t get the energy from the food we eat. In fact if its too acidic, it will make us tired– the opposite process of what we need!

I found some validation to my prior readings that acidity does promote fat creation in the body. Thank you. I found what I was looking for.
