Sick economy has patients skimping on meds

That’s the headline of an Associated Press  news story that I found onMSNBC. One of the things I am grateful for here in Canada is that, even during difficult financial times, I can still see my doctor and get tests if I need them and not have to worry that I will go bankrupt because of it. Oh, that’s an issue for another day though!

Next to the picture of the Hendricks family is this caption.

Donald Hendricks sits with his wife Rhonda, left, and their children, left to right: Demitrius, Donxell, D’Angela, Dominique and Donald III at their home in Lombard, Ill. Tuesday, Oct. 7. Hendricks lost his job this summer and tried home remedies when his kids got sick recently because he couldn’t afford the gas money to drive them to the doctor.

I think it is horrible when people can’t work and are faced with financial burden while trying to rause a family HOWEVER Read the rest of this entry »

Paying for Slip ups!

Sub SandwichYou wouldn’t think that one slip would have such consequences. All of a sudden I am aware of exactly why I have been feeling so crappy for such a long time!

Last evening Jim came home with subs. My fave is a club on parmesan oregano bread with loads of veggies and cheese. I at the whole thing!! (foot long not 6") and savored every bite.

I felt a bit of a headache, and pretty sluggish by bedtime, but who doesn’t feel sluggish at 12:30 at night! This morning though WOW I have fluid filled sacs under my eyes, and my eyeballs feel grainy, like the wind blew some sand in there. I also have a headache!

I have felt for some time now that I had a wheat sensitivity, and I often have this kind of reaction when I ate processed meats before. I just never really drew the line between what I was eating and those puffy sacs under my eyes some mornings!

So today I am going back to raw, having learned a valuable lesson. I won’t say that I’ll never eat a sub again, but at least when I make that choice in the future I will be fully aware of what the consequences are!

I made a huge fruit salad yesterday that I can munch on all day. I will be drinking several pints of fresh juice today including a big glass of cucumber and celery to flush out my system. I still have some fresh veggies, but getting low so I will make a trip to the market again today. I need to go through the detox again but I feel better just thinking about it, so it’s going to be ok. Getting back on track doesn’t seem to get me down. :-)

This brings me to something I’ve been wondering about. We all have a  few vices that can through us off for a day, a week and sometimes permanently. My biggest temptations are salty crunchy snacks… potato chips especially, but pretzels as well. I can say no to any kind of chips except for Lay’s Salt and Vinegar chips. I would walk ten thousand miles for a bag of those! LOL

What about you? What can derail you, and how do you avoid it? If you do slip up, do you get right back on track?

I will be working on the forums for most of the day since it is raining today and we won’t be going boating. UGH we’ve had a lot of rain this past month. Hopefully August will be better!

Fresh from the Juicer

Juicing Fresh Grab your juicer, and some fresh produce. We’re going to make the tastiest and most nutritious enzyme rich, vitamin packed drinks ever. I love my juicer, and as I mentioned in Juicing for Beginners it’s not that difficult if you have the right tools. The right tools are a juicer (see Juicing for Beginners for the 2 juicers I recommend), and some fresh fruits and vegetables to juice up.

If you are new to juicing, it is VERY easy to get fresh yummy juice. Read the rest of this entry »

Getting Healthy Can Keep You Busy!

I''ve Been Busy'WOW I went the entire day before I got to my update post! I went to the farmer’s market again and just inhaled! LOL I just filled my fridge yesterday so I really didn’t need anymore fresh produce!

I also got a new page put up on my blog for people with wellness related blogs to add their site. See up in the menu there where it says "Add Your Blog"? It’s real easy… all you have to do is add your link and then grab one of the banners or the text link to put on your site. We’ll have our own little network of wellness sites all joined together in this community. FUN!

So how did I do yesterday?? OOOO I am so glad you asked! Read the rest of this entry »

Hurray it’s Weigh Day!

Hurray Weigh DayOH I am excited! DESPITE a very unstructured week of discovery, and a big bag of Salt and Vinegar chips, Friday night at the Mexican restaurant, and several of those disgusting chewy granola, ‘yogurt’ dipped bars that people REALLY want to believe are good for you, I STILL managed to be down 2 pounds!

When you have 65 pounds to lose, 2 pounds does not seem like much, and I am quite sure no one will notice it, (although my husband, God bless him, will SWEAR he can!) but still it is progress in the very first week. My mind vey quickly calculated that if I lose 2 pounds EVERY week I will reach my goal in 8 months, which is 4 months earlier than my goal date of one year!

Detox Heavy Metals and Toxins….

With Zeolite

So here we are on my favorite topic. Detoxification with Zeolite. Zeolite is an amazing mineral with the ability to draw heavy metals and toxins into its structure, and be excreted from your body safely. It doesn’t take out any of the electrolytes and minerals that your body needs. This is great news when you consider all of the heavy metals, chemicals and toxins that every one of us is exposed to every day! Read the rest of this entry »
