Is Chemical Free Skin Care Worth The Search?

Cosmetics, for the most part are chemical sludge. Investigators report that 1 out of 8 of the over 80,000 ingredients used in skin care and cosmetics are chemicals. Many of these chemicals are hormone disruptors, cancer causing agents and reproductive toxins. Many of the products on the shelves include plasticizers, degreasers, and surfactants, all of which can have serious impact on the bodies many systems. 

What is the problem with chemicals? Doesn’t our immune system look after these? In many cases the answer is no. Our immune system was made to handle many different toxins, it is true, but man made chemicals are too new on the scene to have evoked an evolutionary adaption. It takes many many generations for a species to adapt to a threat.
