Real Water ConcentrateTurning your drinking water into a health drink.I’ve made a discovery recently….. If you know me, then you know I have been on a "healthier lifestyle" quest for a while now. I’ve literally been devouring anything and everything I can on self-healing and healthy eating and lifestyle. I am definitely on a quest. I’ve done a lot of studying on acidity and alkalinity as it pertains to our bodies, and how what we eat and drink can affect that delicate balance and over time lead to disease. I had been tossing around purchasing one of the ionizers that you see in the side panel there, but I really didn’t want to put out that amount of money right before Christmas for a major purchase like that, ESPECIALLY when I didn”t know if it would really make a difference in my body pH. Well then a friend of mine introduced me to Real Water Concentrate Read the rest of this entry »

The Call Has Gone Out… Fair Warning!
Dennis Olson is a professor of animal science and directs Iowa State’s Linear Accelerator Facility, one of only two commercial-sized irradiation facilities for food research and demonstration on a U.S. university campus…… "It would have to be new construction, that’s for sure," Olson added. "We wouldn’t expect any immediate adoption, and in fact industry won’t move forward unless they are sure there won’t be a backlash from consumer activists. The other issue is that there is a lot more product now being labeled organic, and you cannot irradiate products labeled organic." Read the rest of this entry »

Live and Raw Just Got Easier!
When I ordered it I was mostly thinking raw crackers and cookies, to enhance my meals so I don’t feel like I am eating celery, carrots and apples all the time. I realized last evening though that this is going to be a fantastic way to save all the abundant fresh produce to eat year round. Read the rest of this entry »

Codex IS Already Underway!
Codex will be the direct cause of 3 BILLION deaths in the world, and is slated to go 100% in to effect in December 2009. You have 1 year to GET aware, and get rallied to do something. The idea behind CODEX came from the NAZI criminal who developed the gas used to kill JEWS in WW2 in the Gas Chambers. Pictures like the one on the right are not so far from where we are headed! CODEX will mandate antibiotics and growth hormone in every cow in the world! CODEX will mandate and regulate Read the rest of this entry »

Do you get 5-12 servings of fruits and vegetables every day?
I have some really sneaky ways to hide fruit and vegetable servings for my family member’s nutrition! These days I don’t find it difficult at all to personally get my recommended fruits and vegetables. My house is loaded with fresh produce of all descriptions. Just in fruits I have fresh Read the rest of this entry »

A little planning goes a long way!My dear friend Angela emailed me this morning after reading my "focus" post, to ask me if I had spent some time prepping my food, which gave me my idea for this post. First, meet Angela… you can read a wee bit about her on the ABOUT Page. Angela is going to be a regular contributor to the blog as well as a moderator and contributor to the Be Naturally Well Forums. You are soon going to find out what I know about her… she is as beautiful inside as her picture shows of the outside!
So anyway… Angela gave me an idea for the post and that is to give you a glimpse of my preparation. You see a huge part of my preparation takes place only a couple of times a week, and this is a huge time saver over the week. I also REALLY do not like to be caught unprepared with no ready to grab food. Eating mostly vegan, mostly raw, I am hungrier more often than if I were eating foods with denser calories.
So here is what I did this morning. Read the rest of this entry »

And I am still losing weight! I love chocolate. I think many of us do love chocolate, and because of what happens inside our bodies when we eat chocolate, we can actually justify explain scientifically our passion. It has to do with serotonin. Now this article is not going to be about serotonin, so don’t get all glazed over yet!
I want to know WHY chocolate is so bad for us if it makes us feel so darn good, and is there a way to have our chocolate and eat it to, without feeling like we have to go out back and sneak a bite while furtively looking over our shoulder to make sure nobody sees us!
So what is the difference between healthy and unhealthy chocolate? To find the answer Read the rest of this entry »

There is nothing that reminds me more of summer than this home-made salsa. It’s because the rest of the year we just can’t get those really nice tasting fresh ingredients like we can from the local Farmer’s Market! Enjoy!
4 cups chopped tomatoes - (plum are better because they are less juicy, but regular round ones have MUCH more flavor)
3 green onions, stalk and root chopped
1/4 cup each of red onion, green pepper and red pepper chopped
1 garlic clove finely chopped (or pushed in the press)
1-4 jalapeno peppers finely chopped (a note that the HEAT in a jalopeno is in the whtie ribs and seeds inside. wear gloves to chop jalopenos and do not touch your eyes)
1/4 tsp sea salt and ground chili powder
1 tsp olive oil
ground fresh pepper
1 tablespoon of dried cilantro OR (preferably) a small bunch of chopped fresh leaves.
Juice of one lime
Mix it all up. Place in a covered dish and let sit for several hours to season. Serve with flax crackers, or nacho chips, or as a side to grilled chicken breast, or any other way you serve salsa. (on top of omelets?? YUM!)
ANOTHER way to have salsa:
I love to put my fresh salsa on a big green salad, or scoop it up with celery sticks, instead of salad dressing. It adds SO MUCH more wonderful fresh flavor to your chopped veggies!

(I have a confession… I was surfing and came across Michelle’s blog and found this. It looks and sounds to good to walk away so I scooped it for you) I told her I was going too!!!
Chili (adapted slightly from Living on Live Food by Alissa Cohen)
3 cups sprouted whole wheat or whole (hulled, not pearled) barley (Wait, wait, stick with me here. If you are put off by the idea of sprouting anything, I suggest you just go ahead and cook your whole grains, then stick ‘em in the fridge to chill before using in this recipe)
1/2 tsp. curry
1/2 tsp. cumin
1/2 tsp. paprika
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1/2 tsp. onion powder
1/2 tsp. cayenne
2 Tbl. chili powder
1 Tbl. italian seasoning
2 Tbl. Braggs Liquid Aminos (or just use some salt)
1 green bell pepper, diced
1 ear of corn, shaved (I used frozen corn, sue me)
1/4 cup olive oil
juice of 1 orange
5 large tomatoes, diced
1 cup dates, pitted and soaked
1 cup sundried tomatoes, soaked
1. In a big bowl combine everything except dates and sundried tomatoes
2. In a food processor, blend dates and sundried tomatoes into a paste
3. Add paste to everything else, stir well. Easy peasey!
Faux Sour Cream and Onion Topping
2 cups macadamia nuts, soaked
1/2-1 cup water
1 tsp. sea salt
1/2 cup onions, leeks or scallions
1. In a food processor, blend macadamia nuts, water and salt until smooth and creamy. Add water a little as a time, just enough to help the nuts blend.
2. I went ahead and cooked my onions because I REALLY don’t like smelling onion breath for 2 days after eating them raw. So, your choice.
3. Combine onions with creamy mixture and chill. Use a dollop on top of the chili when serving.
