It’s Weigh Day again!

Weigh Day ScalesWOW 2 weeks gone already… is that POSSIBLE?

It’s true though AND I’m down 3 pounds so that’s a total of 5 pounds in two weeks. I am THRILLED. So how have YOU been doing?

It is so interesting to me, this different perspective. You know, I want to share with you what I think is going on.

My mind created a different view of who I am.

As strange as that sounds to me, there is no other way to explain what has happened to me… more over the past several months, not just the past 2 weeks.

In March I quit smoking after beginning when I was 12 years old, and smoking all of my life. I just stopped smoking one day. I just became a different person one day. A person who doesn’t smoke, and that’s it. I didn’t smoke again.

It’s the same thing with my weight. I’ve become a person who values herself as a beautiful, perfect (imperfectly perfect) person who deserves to be looked after. Even though it may seem like I am focused on weight, because I am weighing myself once a week and reporting it, I really am not. If you’re reading some of the other stories on the blog you will understand a bit more about the focus… and thus the REASON for success.

Your mind must accept you and want to care for you.

Simple. This is a journey of personal growth, love, gratitude and acceptance. It has very little to do with "losing weight" and everything to do with nourishing body and soul with good food, and good thoughts.

Ok so let’s stop all that sappy stuff for a moment! ;-)

One of the things that is important for your own goals is to have some kind of support. Even the strongest willed person will have a more difficult time swimming against a tide of resistance! If you don’t have support at home then find support elsewhere, be that a parent, a sibling, a friend or a forum. You need someone that will empathize with you when you need it, and kick you in the butt when you need that!

Here are some tips to help your success and prevent sabotage.

  1. Talk like you mean it- There’s no problem in my house when I set out to do something. That’s because I don’t let any doubt show in my voice. (well that’s one of the reasons)
  2. Enlist your family’s help- I tell my family that I won’t tell them how to eat, but I will ask that if they are going to eat MY favorite non-healthy foods could they please do so outside of our home.
  3. If you have to cook a different meal for the family then eat something healthy first – You will be less likely to scarf down the leftovers if you aren’t starving.
  4. Plan a reward for the entire family when you reach your goal- A meal out together or a trip to the amusement park will involve your children in a fun way. When you explain to them that you need to go for your walk or not allow chips in the house, and they fuss, remind them of what reaching the goal will mean.
  5. Keep track of your progress, and post it on the fridge or somewhere else, so the family will know how close you are to your goal.
  6. Celebrate small achievements with a non-food related reward. (go camping, shopping, hiking, ….whatever floats your boat!

Happy Tuesday everyone!

congrats on the loss! I too am on a fat loss plan, and I am tracking my journey at a different forum. I started almost a year ago, and so far have taken off 40.5 lbs., with another 150 to go. Hope we both are successful!
